Biography
Vladimir Strochkov, a brilliantly talented poet, has been gaining acclaim since the early 90s. He was born born in Moscow in 1946. His first book, Glagoly nesovershennogo vremeni: izbrannye Stikhotvoreniia, 1981-1992 godov (Moscow, DIAS) appeared in 1994, although he had published previously in literary magazines. His verse has been noted for its combination of linguistic virtuosity and solemn, even tragical content, in which variegated impressions of childhood and everyday life are accumulated with of professional, amorous, social, and cultural reflections. Author of 8 books and more than 130 publications in Russia and abroad. His Brodsky Fund fellowship was his first trip abroad. He lives in Moscow.
