Biography

Poet. Born in 1944 in Leningrad. He graduated from the historical faculty of Leningrad University. He has been writing poetry since 1968. His work was first published in the anthology of "Apollo 77" (Paris, 1977). During the 1970s Stratanovsky was part of Russia’s underground literary culture, and he co-edited the samizdat magazines Dialog and Obvodny Kanal (Bypass Canal ). His first book was published in Russia in 2003 and he has published twelve collections of poetry. He is the winner of the prize of the magazine "Star" (2001) for the series, "Poems, written in Italian," the Andrei Bely Prize (2010), and the Giosuè Carducci Prize (Italy, 2011). He lives and works in St. Petersburg.
